Services

We aim to provide the schools we work with a number of services through this project. We are not simply building a "CMS" system as many companies on the marked will do and sell it to you, and then walk away. We are here to help you get started or to transition content from your existing site to a new, data-driven site.

We are also available to provide on-site or computer-driven training. This could involve coming to your school for a 1-2 day workshop to instruct your teachers and administrators how to set up their own pages, how to appropriately connect to 3rd party vendors, and also helps us develop tools specific to your needs

We offer a number of support services, besides training. Our primary method of distributing this product is a full-service web hosting and development package, where we will not only help you design a site that is consistent, easy to navigate, and content rich, but we will also help you maintain it, even being the primary people to add content, if you wish. We are also highly skilled in automation techniques, and can make your site operate and update much more automatically than you may have grown used to.

Project Description

We are in the midst of evaluating and beginning a project to provide data-driven websites to school corporations. We are beginning this project with schools in the local area (Central Indiana) that we can physically visit and communicate with, but would be glad to talk with any other school organization that is interested in making their sites more consistent and usable to their many readers.

Listed below are several of the concepts and features we wish to address with our web development for school corporations:

Issues to be addressed

• Consistency:
  School corporations often have different "webmaster" at each school. Our template based project will provide the entire school corporation a set of key pages and features that can be reused throughout all the sites. This will not only help each school appear to be part of a larger organization, but will make it easier to make global-changes across the board.
• Re-usability:
  There are many portions of a school systems' website that are reusable in various areas of the site. This not only applies to a "lunch menu" application, but also to something such as a "recent news" or "events calendar." Instead of creating static pages for each of these features, we hope to provide schools a data-driven way to store this information and then display relevant parts of it on specific pages. This means there can be a central "school system calendar" with every event related to the school system on it, but the elementary school may only choose to display items related to their school. This would also allow parents and teachers to create their own custom views of calendars that meet their own criteria.

Features to be included

• 3rd Party Vendors
  School corporations are rather consistent in using 3rd party vendors to provide certain features, such as lunch menus, calendars, and school closing notifications. While our company is capable of integrating these features right into your site, we recognize that it is not always necessary to reinvent the wheel, and for that reason, can provide a way to integrate the 3rd party's site directly into your site. THis mean your users won't "leave" your site to check on school closings - which in turn means they will come back to your site, time and time again, to find the information they are looking for.
• Data-Driven Templates
  We do not feel the need to fit every school into a single set of templates. We don't have one "master" template that we think will fit everybody. However, we do feel that a consistent set of formatting and content display across a school corporation is a highly effective way to bring users back and get them looking around the various portions of your site. For that reason we aim to develop an individual template for each of our clients, and then use that template across the board to help them create a consistent and easy-to-manage site.
• Reusable Components
  There are many components that will be reusable across the scope of a school system, from lunch-menus, to calendars, to staff and organization pages, to grade reporting, to an athletic hall-of-fame. We aim to provide all of these features as individually developed sections of the site, or can link to, and obtain data from, third party vendors.
• Customizable Content
  Many of the sites we develop contain a "quick-edit" administration mode that will easily allow administration or other authorized personnel to make minor changes to page content directly from the page, with little or no HTML coding knowledge. These quick-edit features can be customized to make changes immediately or only apply them after notification is sent and authorization approved by the appropriate personnel.

Pricing and Services

• Pricing:
  We are still in the evaluation stage of pricing for this project, but anticipate coming up with a yearly maintenance fee to cover the costs of development, hosting, and maintenance of these sites. This will allow school corporations to get a content-driven website up quickly and without a high initial expenditure.
• Services
  We welcome you to browse the rest of our site to review the types of service we offer. They include technical support, backups, custom development, and even training. Many of these services will be incorporated into this project, and we welcome your inquiries
• Technical Jargon:
  We use dedicated internet hosting servers to host our sites. They are developed primarily using technologies such as VB.NET, ASP.NET, SQL Server, Excel, and MapPoint but we often include other languages and/or technologies as well, depending on the project.

We would love to talk to you about your school's websites. Keep in mind that this project is focused on creating template based, data-driven sites across your entire organization. We can give all of your schools, from elementary to high school, the ability to maintain a consistent look and feel, and at the same time, express their individuality. We will provide reusable components that can be used across the different websites, and help keep the site centralized so that users aren't been taken off-site to view sites of 3rd party vendors providing other data-related functions.
